  • Searching for Softball Team Manager(s). Looking for 1-2 students per team (freshman & varsity) Duties: Set up and tear down for practices and home games, Announcing using, PA system, Potential team concessions.  Practice starts February 28. Freshman 3:30-5:00, Varsity 5:00-6:30.  See Mrs. Mennie in the business office. Participation can be strictly volunteer based, or credit towards work study and/or service hours. Student cannot be playing on the softball team.

  • All student government members need to see Mrs. Manning to sign up for a day to sell Turnabout Dance tickets. Stop by her room in the basement anytime throughout the day before Friday! An information sheet will be given to you at that time. 

  • The Turnabout Dance will be on Saturday, March 5 from 7-9 pm in the gym. Ticket sales will be held Monday, Feb. 14 through Friday, Feb. 25 during each of the lunch periods. The cost is $5.00 per person. The following rules will be in place:

    ·  You DO NOT have to fill out a Covid form in order to attend. However, EVERYONE will be required to wear a mask. If you are not wearing one during the dance you will be asked to leave. 

    ·  You may bring a guest from another school. Saint Bede students are responsible for picking up a guest form in the main office AND returning it to the main office by Monday, Feb. 28. This date is firm and no exceptions will be allowed. See Mrs. Manning if you have questions.

  • Tea Club meets Thursday (tomorrow) after school in the commons.  Have some tea, honey, and biscuits.

  • The north half of the second-floor construction is beginning today.  Old main stairwell and north stair tower are the only useable stairwells for the remainder of the semester.  Second floor student restrooms are also closed.

Just as God is patient with you and your failures, so too does God desire that you be patient with others. 

  • Yesterday was the anniversary of the death of Fr. Gilbert Simon and 3 students, 116 years ago, in 1906.  Many students and their prefects were ice skating on the slough near the river.  All were told not to gather, but a boy had a camera.  They gathered for a photo and the ice broke. Most of the boys were saved by Fr. Gilbert and the other prefects, but 3 boys drowned as did Fr. Gilbert trying to save them.  On the north end of the first floor of the school is a large stone plaque/monument to them. Check it out.

  • Trenton Acuncius rolled a 1,310 six-game series Saturday to finish seventh at the IHSA State Bowling Tournament at St. Clair Lanes in O'Fallon. Trenton finished with a two-day total of 2,674 to finish 92 pins behind state champion Ethan Caruso, of Minooka.  Trenton is the first St. Bede Academy Bowler to make it to the state series!  Trenton your Bruin family is incredibly proud of you!

  • The IVCC Foundation scholarship application is now available for the 2022-23 school year. The deadline is Thursday, Feb. 10, 2022.  Every student who is considering attending IVCC should submit this scholarship application.

  • Scholastic bowl at Erie-Prophetstown has been canceled and rescheduled for Jan 18th.

  • The Abbey church is closed for repairs until March 1st.  We look forward to reopening the restored church once renovations are complete. Please avoid the work area in the meantime.

  • Stage Rats Meet tonight and tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m. in the gym.
