Boarding Information

Co-ed college preparatory boarding school for domestic and international students in grades 9-12. Located on 700 acres in Peru, Illinois.

Boarding Information

When you think of boarding school, it’s easy to imagine a serious, structured environment, where students are only focused on homework and strict routines. But at St. Bede, the experience is much more dynamic. With 52 boarding students from the United States and multiple countries, the school offers a truly international experience that combines academic rigor with the joy of exploring new cultures and new places.

The dorms at St. Bede are where students from around the world come together to share their experiences, make friends, and create a home away from home. Whether you're bonding with a roommate from another country or enjoying a casual conversation in the common area, there’s a sense of global connection that permeates campus life. The dormitories are well-maintained and comfortable, providing a cozy environment where students can relax and recharge after their busy day at school.

Academically, St. Bede offers a challenging and structured environment that encourages students to achieve their best. With small class sizes and dedicated teachers, students receive personalized attention to help them excel. The school’s well-rounded approach doesn’t just focus on the academic side of things; it also ensures that students have ample opportunities to develop their personal and social skills. For international students, the transition to a new educational system is supported by additional resources to help them adjust and succeed. From study halls to one-on-one academic support, St. Bede ensures that each student has the tools and encouragement they need to thrive.

One of the most exciting aspects of St. Bede’s boarding program is its diversity. Students come from a wide range of countries and all walks of life. This international community fosters a learning environment that goes beyond textbooks—it’s about learning from each other, exchanging ideas, and celebrating different cultures.

While academics and cultural exchange are at the heart of the St. Bede experience, the school also knows how important it is to have fun and unwind. Each month, boarding students have the chance to take part in exciting outings that help them relax, explore, and bond as a community. Recent trips have included everything from thrill-seeking fun at Six Flags Great America to experiencing the local charm of The Sandwich Fair. Whether it’s cheering on the Chicago Bulls at a basketball game or hiking the beautiful trails of Starved Rock State Park, these outings provide students with a chance to break away from their studies and create lasting memories together. These adventures also help foster a sense of camaraderie among the international student body, as they explore new places and share experiences outside of campus.

St. Bede’s boarding program offers students an enriching and well-rounded experience, balancing academics with fun and cultural exchange. Whether you’re from across the globe or closer to home, the school’s diverse community and strong support network make it a great choice for students looking for a unique and immersive experience.
