Custodian

St. Bede Academy has an immediate opening for a full-time custodian to work in cooperation with other employees of the facility to maintain a clean, sanitary, safe environment in the school and public spaces.  Responsible for the cleanliness of gymnasium, classrooms, hallways, offices, stairwells and restrooms.

Afternoon/Evening Shift: M-F 3 p.m. – 10:30 p.m.

Qualifications/Skills/Requirements:

This full-time position requires tact, sensitivity and professionalism at all times.  Seeking a dependable, reliable, hardworking individual with a good attitude and work ethic.

•        Prior experience is a plus.

•        Physical ability to frequently lift, push and pull up to 50 lbs. and bend reach and kneel as necessary to perform normal job duties.

•        Must function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity and ability to work effectively with residents and personnel. 

Duties/Responsibilities:

Responsible for tasks, including but not limited to the following:

•        Empty trash cans, clean whiteboards and sanitize surfaces

•        Sweep, scrub, mop floors

•        Vacuum carpets, rugs, draperies and blinds

•        Dust and polish woodwork and furniture

•        Clean sinks, tubs, showers and kitchens

•        Wash windows and glass surfaces as scheduled

•        Operation of mechanized cleaning equipment and materials in a safe and sanitary condition

•        Knowledge of cleaning and sanitation products, techniques and methods  Preform light maintenance functions as directed

High School Mathematics Teacher

Job Duties:

1.   Plan lessons and prepare for math classes as assigned in the math department.
2.   Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
3.   Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and fosters the academic and spiritual development of the students.
4.   Encourages students to set and maintain standards of St. Bede’s core values of faith, character, academic excellence, community, stewardship, and justice.
5.   Uses a variety of assessments, assignments, projects, etc. to measure student progress and performance.
6.   Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records in Teacherease per district policy and administrative regulations.
7.   Maintain order in the classroom and an atmosphere of respect doing so in a fair and just manner.
8.   Strives to maintain and improve professional competence participating in professional development activities.
9.   Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
10. Strives to work with other staff members cooperatively, providing a positive, student-centered environment.
11. Display professional standards and promotes a positive school image with actions and words. 

Qualifications:

Valid Illinois teaching license or Bachelor’s Degree in mathematics field preferred.

- Serving as a liaison between the Academy, board of trustees and the broader community. 

- Leading key school committees, including the Student Success Team and Principal’s Advisory Committee. 

- Overseeing student management and learning systems (TeacherEase LMS & SMS). 

- Ensuring compliance with Illinois State Board of Education, IHSA and NCEA requirements.

- Promoting a culture of faith, service and excellence.

Qualifications

- Illinois Professional Educator License with Principal Endorsement. 

- Minimum of two years of classroom teaching experience. 

- Experience in educational leadership, curriculum development and faculty evaluation.
