  • On Oct. 12th all juniors & sophomore will be taking the PSAT-NMSQT.  Results of this test will be used by the College Board to determine National Merit Scholar award recipients. Check your email for test prep info and start preparing for this test NOW! Also on this day freshman will have remote learning and seniors will have an excused college visit day.  Seniors should check their email for info on how to set up a college visit.

  • Congratulations to the girl’s cross-country team finishing second in an 8 team meet Tuesday at Baker Park in Peru. Lady Bruins were led by Aleda Hoogland 12th, Macy Zeglis 15th, Jaelyn Weber 22nd, Madelyn Torrance 23rd, and Sierah Shaver 25th, for the guys, they were led by Greyson Marincic 13th place followed by Haiden Ator 29th.

  • Seniors: It's not too early to apply to IVCC! Ms. Bernabei strongly recommends that ALL seniors apply and send a transcript to IVCC even if you plan to attend a different school in the Fall.  Most students who go away to college as a freshman will take a summer course later at IVCC to save money and to help get GenEd courses out of the way so you can graduate in 4 years. See your school email from Friday for IVCC info. All seniors will need to submit an IVCC application even if you’ve taken an IVCC course as a high school student.

  •  Seniors: The 2023-24 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) becomes available on October 1st. The FAFSA is required for grants, student loans and scholarships. It is recommended that all students planning to attend college submit the FAFSA even if you think you won’t qualify for grants or other free money. See your student email from Friday for tips to be prepared to start on your FAFSA as soon as it becomes available.

  • On the sports front, a big week for your golfing Bruins. On Tuesday the girls defeated L-P. The Boys on Friday successfully defended their Bureau County Matchplay title defeating Princeton 5-1 before moving on and beating Hall 4-1-1 to retain “The Belt”. Saturday at the Rockfalls Rocket Invite the Bruins shot a 323 to capture 1st place a score that would have won the large school division they were led by Brendon Pillion with a 3rd place 78 and Jake Delaney medalist with a 72.

  •  Tomorrow is Voters Registration Day at St. Bede Academy! This will take place during Lunch Period. Students are allowed to register as long as they will be 18 on or before November 8th. You MUST bring 2 official items with current address, one must be a driver’s license or state issued ID. Other acceptable documents are school transcripts, bank statements, or paychecks.
